Stanislaw Januszko was born in 1914 in Prussian partition of Poland. After World War II, wanted for his activity in the Home Army, he reached the American occupation zone in Germany and emigrated to Canada. He wrote poetry throughout his life until his death in 2002.
'His poems are dominated by longing for the country, family home, nature, but also dedicated to the soldier's memories of September 1939. He also writes poems for occasional, anniversary and for friends. He also writes epigrams and satires, not sparing in his assessment some moral behaviors of the Polish diaspora.
This is how he writes about himself and his poems: “I am the son of the people, factory workers and my brother workers, I wrote and write simple, understandable poems. I avoid and do not use difficult, unusual words, flowery rhetoric and ambiguous metaphors. I went and I am going in the opposite direction - as close as possible to concise and idyllic simplicity. " from 'Stanislaw Januszko, an unforgettable poet' by Jerzy Rozenek, February 1 2022, in the online journal Goniec
