Her grandfather was Ralph Capone, brother to the Chicago Crime CommissionÆs Public Enemy #1: Al Capone. In 1957, 17-year-old Deirdre was fired from her job as a secretary for an insurance company simply for being a Capone. This experience was disillusioning, but eventually she was able to recover and create a life for herself with a man she met at that very company.
