Charlie was born in 1921 at North Bay. He attended Jarvis Collegiate in Toronto. He enlisted in the RCAF in 1940 at Toronto and received his AG wing in August 1941. He was posted overseas to Bournemouth then to Manby, Gunnery School; Stormy Down, Turret Course and then to OTU, at Upper Heyford. Charlie was posted to 83 Squadron RAF, 5 Group, and then to 207 Squadron 5 Group. He was eventually shot down and survived a German POW camp. Charlie's Story is about hope, friendship and the strength of the human spirit.
