Veselko Koroman is one of the most noteworthy poets in the Croatian language and one of the most significant Croatian writers of Bosnia & Herzegovina. Since appearing on the literary scene in 1957, he has published fifteen collections of poetry, two books of fictional prose, three anthologies and four books of essays and criticism. He is also the former editor of the Bosnian-Croatian journals 'Life' (Sarajevo) and 'Dawn' (Mostar). He is a member of the Croatian PEN Centre. The poems are translated by Vladimir Bubrin, a Canadian-educated translator and authority of things Slavic. His translations include the poetry of Marko Marulic and other Croatian Renaissance writers, an anthology of 20th century Croatian poets of Bosnia & Herzegovina and selections of modern Croatian prose and drama for public readings.
