The time is February, 1945. The War in Europe is raging towards its last catastrophe. The result is a week of bizarre events in which the follies and dreams of the good citizens of the Point are exposed and exorcised. Don Gutteridge grew up in the village of Point Edward, Ontario. He attended school there and in a one-room country school in Sarnia Township. He attended high school in Sarnia and Chatham and graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1960, where he is currently professor emeritus in the Faculty of Education.
