Joan Emberg (well known Tasmanian author) was born on the wild West Coast of Tasmania and met her mad man (husband Buck Emberg) in 1974. When their children left home, Joan and her mad man liquefied their assets and took off for overseas adventures. This led them to a grass shack in Mexico and a fish factory on the Aleutians. Their adventures placed them in many atypical situations in Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Yugoslavia, Turkey, China, Korea, Japan and many others.
